Travel Day! I'm starting a RyanAir hate club

*Get ready for a text heavy post haha... sorry all!

I was very sad to be leaving Portugal, but I was very excited for Vienna! Even though it was 5am when I woke up... barf. We had a bus to take us to the airport, so we loaded up and headed on our way. The one good thing about being up that early was getting to see the sunrise for the first time on this trip! And it was a pretty one! We also drove past the arena where I got to see Taylor Swift so that was pretty cool.

So we get to the airport, get off the bus and walk into the terminal, and then realize that we have to go to Terminal 2, not 1 where we were dropped off. So we hopped on the airport shuttle and got split up because 34 people plus all of their luggage was not going to fit on an already half full shuttle haha. We get to the terminal and then we have to wait to check our bags and get boarding passes because RyanAir sucks lol. So then we finally get to start checking our bags and at first they're really confused about printing boarding passes but they finally figure it out... or so we thought. I was already in the security line when this happened, but I guess there were 13 people left in our group to drop off their bags and get passes when the RyanAir people tell them that they are not going to print any more boarding passes because apparently you only get a boarding pass if you check in at the airport... ok weird. Then they tell them that it is going to be 20 euros to print ONE boarding pass. ONE. So MaryAnn is arguing with the lady and I she goes "do you want 34 bad reviews on your website?!" and the lady says "ma'am I want to keep my job with RyanAir." Hahahaha. We can laugh about it now, but at 7 in the morning it was not so funny. I guess the remaining people ended up having to download the RyanAir app on their phones to access their boarding passes electronically. So already not off to a great start.

We all got through security no problem, but then we get to the gates and it is so packed, no great options for food, and nowhere to sit. It also just was kind of a gross place. I ended up eating m&ms for breakfast lol. Our flight was supposed to leave at 9:35, so we line up to start boarding right before 9am, they scan our boarding passes, we walk out to the tarmac, and proceed to stand in line for over half an hour. Well past the time our flight was supposed to leave. And there was nobody giving us any information about delays or anything. We were just standing there waiting. We finally got to board and our flight left over an hour after it was supposed to. Exactly what you want when you wake up at 5am! Our flight was around 3ish hours, and I actually slept through most of it which was so surprising, and then I read for the last little bit, so it ended up being not too bad, and then we were in Vienna! We took taxis to our hotel and then got a couple hours to rest before our walking tour that night.

Vienna is beautiful, but I do not have that many pictures at all because of the overall exhaustion. We got delicious gelato (black cherry and chocolate is a perfect combo) at Rob's favorite gelato place ("I'm a Schwedenplatz girly" were his exact words), saw some cool buildings and monuments, and walked through a beautiful garden. There was a section of rose trees that people I'm assuming were able to "buy" and dedicate to people, and there was one dedicated to "Lilly Rose." So precious! I crashed pretty much immediately after we got back. It was a loooooong day.
