Sintra Day 2! Living out my fairytale dream
There was no breakfast at the guest houses we stayed out, which was kind of annoying, but Marie and I found a little cafe nearby and got some sweet pasteis (YUM) and then this really delicious savory one that had eggs and ham. Delish! Then, we had plans to go to a Catholic mass for church, but we got there and they weren't having it! So just outside of the church we had a nice kind of testimony meeting about spiritual experiences we've had on the trip, and then we sang a bunch of hymns. A Portuguese lady came and just stood in our circle while we sang, which was kind of lovely.
After our impromptu church we headed to Quinta de Regaleria which is this cool palace with even cooler grounds. There's a bunch of cave systems and towers to go up in, and paths through the forest to follow. It was kind of insane and when we were up in the towers it seriously felt like we were princesses, in the forest we felt like fairies, and when we were underground in the caves or in the initiation well (this place has crazy history of like orders of knights and all of this other cool stuff) we felt like medieval knights. It was seriously just beautiful and so fun to explore!
That was our last required thing of the day, and then we just had "free" time, which meant time to pack and finish blog posts for those who were behind (not me!). I basically just hung out in my room, packed everything up, Marie and I went to the grocery store, and that was kind of it. Early bedtime because we had to be on the bus to the airport at 6am... tears. I don't have any pictures after Quinta da Regaleria haha, so that's all I have!
