Travel Day! I didn't know we were going to Rome

Just to preface this, I didn't actually go to Rome. I wish! We had a nice and early bus ride this morning. We stopped in this town called Mereida on the way and saw Roman ruins! Which was insane. There was an old theater and then a gladiator arena which was crazy.

It was a super cool little place, but it was a little diminished by the dismal lunch situation. They did not give us a ton of time to grab something so we were running through this market that had ZERO options. There was like no fruit or vegetables or even a refrigerator in sight. There was a butcher though with a lot of meat. Ahhhh. It also did not smell the best in there and I was just stressed and tired. So I ended up with a coke zero, chips, and cookies. Like I said, dismal. Then we're all walking to the bus and some people have salads and apples and apparently there was a better grocery store a little bit farther up. I almost cried.

We stopped again in Evora, Portugal and saw the church of bones, which is literally a chapel made out of bones. I was a little bit confused about how that worked at first but then we got there and I was no longer confused. Look at the pictures and you'll see. There is supposed to be a reflective nature to it and a commentary about how life is short and fleeting, but it was still very eerie. There was also a bunch of nativities in the upstairs which were really cool. I thought it was an interesting juxtaposition with the nativities depicting the start of the most important life on earth, and then the end of so many lives in the chapel below.

We stopped to do a little nature walk and saw megoliths (basically just big rocks). I think they were actually the trolls from Frozen, I was waiting to see Sven running through the trees!

That was our last stop before we made it to Lisbon! Our hotel is full of old people and none of them were very happy to see us walk in lol. I went and got pizza for dinner with some of the girls and it was good, but we accidentally paid for breadsticks (not even real breadsticks, the little crunchy skinny ones that come in a package). I was so mad, we didn't realize they weren't free because they just had them on the plates when we got there. They weren't even good ahah. Anyways, the pizza was pretty good and very aesthetic!
