Paris Day 6! Au revoir :(

***due to some formatting issues that i have no time or motivation to fix, please start from the BOTTOM and read UP. thank you all <3

We took the train back to the hostel after Mass and did laundry, packed, and more blog stuff! I did have to take a picture with the street that we walked back to the hostel on every day. So pretty and green. I’m going to miss Paris, but I’m excited to move on!

It was the most beautiful cathedral, and even though it was all in French, it was still really interesting and enjoyable. I was able to go up during communion and be blessed by the priest which was really cool.

We did have a run in with a lady who was really angry with two of the girls in our group because they didn’t know what to do/say for the Peace Be With You part of mass when she said something to them in French, and also because one of the girls went up and took communion (which we were told we were welcome to do). She came up after mass and started telling them they were rude and disrespectful. It was just funny because the sermon was about loving your neighbor and being kind and Christlike to the people around you, and she was not really following that. It makes me think about how we can be better about that in our own lives and even in our own worship and religious beliefs. Rob kind of talked with her while she was berating us and placated a little bit while still being like hey you know we’re new here and we need to be welcoming and kind, that type of thing. She also started telling us she loves our country though so that was funny.

After we ate and shopped we met up with the group at Place Sarte-Beauvoir (Simone Beauvoir’s memorial) right across from the church where we were going to a Catholic mass.

After the Louvre, Marie and I headed to find some food before we met for Mass! We ended up at Mono Prix which is like France’s target. It was literally exactly like a grocery store target which was super fun. I got some pesto pasta and Marie got a sandwich and we both got Coke zeros. I really liked my pasta, and they even had a microwave so I could heat it up! We walked around for a while and I picked up a few goodies, including what I have decided was a bubblegum flavor Coke Zero, and some kinder egg surprises!!

This lady sketching was so cool!

After the concert we headed to the Louvre! We talked about a few artworks beforehand and Rob had to be a teletubby so we could see it with the glare. The Louvre is HUGE. Like I knew it was super big but it was SUPER big. Apparently there’s like 138,000 something works in there and if you looked at all of them for 30 seconds, you’d be there for a MONTH. That’s insane.  We did see some incredible things in there obviously. And no we didn’t really spend time at the Mona Lisa or get a picture with her. She’s really tiny and hot take but not actually even Da Vinci’s best artwork. I did get a picture with the painting behind her though! And pictures of/with lots of other things too.

Our last day in Paris! So sad! We started our day off with a piano concert, which was incredible even though we like all were falling asleep. Dim lights plus beautiful classic music is a dangerous combo for exhausted study abroad students. I do so enjoy watching people play piano. It was so cool to watch her hands move and see how she felt the music, and we had perfect seats!
