Madrid Day 5! I scream for ice cream

Late start today! We had a group tapas lunch of all different types of "sandwiches" - none of which I was a huge fan of unfortunately. There were 7 different types, and I say "sandwiches" because they were all more of just a piece of bread with a topping. Our first one was bread topped with paella, our second one which was my favorite was cream cheese with berry jam and a sugared mint leaf, then we had a cheese ball type thing that also had sausage, a piece of bread with a mini hot dog, bread with iberica ham (my dad was right it wasn't that great in my opinion), creamed fish balls which tasted about as good as they sound, one with pancake, ham, and shrimp (if you think that sounds weird... you'd be right), and then a little mushroom tart. I really hate to say it but the best thing about the lunch was that I got a coke zero and a fanta. We also got to sit on this comfy bench that had a bed frame so we took a little nap after lunch.

Next we headed to a Modern art museum - Reina Sofia - that houses Picasso's Guernica! It was so cool to be able to see that one in person because I remember learning about it back in middle school. There were a few other paintings that I liked, but I'm still not a huge modern art person.

Stopped for gelato (of course) on our way back to the hotel. My combo today was pistachio and chocolate and ohhh my goodness the chocolate was SO good today. It was a very dark, rich chocolate and it tasted like I was eating the most delicious fudge ever. I will crave it for the rest of my life. We headed back to the hotel after gelato to get some much needed rest. The exhaustion has really been hitting lately.

A group of us decided to go to the flower garden that is in Retiro park because we wanted some pretty pictures, so we got ready and headed over there. We didn't realize that the park closed at 8, so unfortunately by the time we got there we only had 20 minutes to hang out there, but we still had fun and it was beautiful!

Audrey and I were hungry for some Tiki Tacos after the garden so we headed over that way to fulfill our craving. It was again super loud, and this time when we got back our receipts, I was "andeli" and Audrey was "julio." We were dying over audrey being perceived as a Julio (not even Julia!) because she is very much a very white girl.

After tacos we decided that we needed more gelato (it's an addiction at this point) so we headed back. I was in search of some more chocolate but when we got there they were all out! It was very sad, but I got horchata and banana split again. The horchata was sooo good but the banana split wasn't as good as the first time I got it. Still delicious though! Good end to the night!
